Itchy Mosquito Bites

Introduction

Did you ever play outside? When you went back inside did you ever notice a big red bump on your skin, I know I have. Well the cause for that is a pesky little parasite called a mosquito. When people say mosquito "bite" people automaticaly think that the mosquito actually "bites". It does not bite. The real way a mosquito bites is the mosquito looks for a blood vessel. When it finds one it puts saliva in it. The saliva has something in it called anti-coagulant this keep your blood flowing so it can quickly get some of your blood. Even though you don't feel the mosquito bite right away your immune system does. Right away it tells your body to produce something called histamine. When the histamine reaches the area of the mosquito bite it makes that blood vessel swell. When the blood vessel swells it irratates which causes itching.

My opinion

In my opinion mosquito bites are very annoying and irratating. They really itch. Its not very good to itch your mosquito bites because that just makes the body process more histamine and that causes more swelling and irratation. Also if you scratch too hard you can turn it into a scar and hurt yourself. Sometimes people keep gloves on so they won't scratch the mosquito bite and make it worse.

Ending

After reading the article that I read I started to think that the name mosquito bite should be changed. The mosquitoes do not really "bite". I could not come up with a better name though. After you read this I hope you think differently about the name too. If you come up with a good name post it in the comments. Remember not to scratch those mosquito "bites"!

Here is a link to the website I used. Thanks!
